I've tweeted the monkey lookalike several times over his pathetic comments ... Made me feel better anyhow and I bet he's crying and really bothered by my abuse

Re: Martin Keown blasts Reid's reaction to elbow (Schweinsteiger charged)
Fellaini's nasty deliberate foul onTomkins was far worse & designed to intentionally injure another player. Definitely should have been a red

Schweinsteiger's foul on Reid should have been a red by the letter of the law, but it was fairly typical jostling in the box that got a bit out of hand, His arms were high but there wasn't a massive amount of force or serious intent, I didn't think

Neither was close to being as bad as McCarthy's cowardly assault on Payet

There is no consistency amongst refs

Crassus 9:18 Mon Dec 7
Re: Martin Keown blasts Reid's reaction to elbow (Schweinsteiger charged)
The ref fucked up

Either got both blatant reds wrong or saw neither so was poorly positioned - twice

No doubt in my mind that if it were against a Utd player by one of ours, both would have been off

Gutless reffereeing

Re: Martin Keown blasts Reid's reaction to elbow
"steiger

Is a german word meaning f*cker, deriving from steiger which means 'to mount'. Many germans do not use this word, and due to it's profanity WILL NOT ADMIT it exists."

There is nothing as funny as an "expert" who knows fuck all.

Steiger is in the dictionary, and means overseer. It is derived from the verb steigeRn, which means to increase, and originally also referred to animal husbandry. SteigeRn is related to the verb steigen, which does mean mount or climb.

Re: Martin Keown blasts Reid's reaction to elbow
Cos it's a Man U player at Old Trafford.

Referees are well known for thinking twice about giving them to home players. Remember David Ellery and Roy Keane's assault on Haaland. Even with that, Ellery has admitted he thought twice about giving it, until deciding it was so bad, he just had no option to.

Re: Martin Keown blasts Reid's reaction to elbow
Fair enough, I'll watch it again later to see if i can see the ref's view.

If he has got a good view of it then i agree, i can't see why he's not given him a straight red.

Far Cough 4:03 Mon Dec 7

He might have missed Fellaini's fucking stamp but I'm pretty sure he saw Schweinsteiger's chop to the throat?

Far Cough 3:37 Mon Dec 7

If Gallagher's version is correct (I'm not exactly sure what his exact viewpoint was for either offence) then he didn't have a good enough view to make the call.

If he's not 100% sure, or close to 100% sure (which seems to be the case here) I'd rather he keeps it 11v11*

*that's in general - obviously i would have liked them to have been reduced to 9 men in this case

Eddie B 3:51 Mon Dec 7
Re: Martin Keown blasts Reid's reaction to elbow
The only reason he hasn't given either of them is cos it was Man U at Old Trafford.

fair summary there - both red cards IMO but you can see why the ref hasn't given either of them

Re: Martin Keown blasts Reid's reaction to elbow
Taken from Sky Sports "REF WATCH".

SCENARIO: In the 27th minute of Saturday's game at Old Trafford, Fellaini and Tomkins entered a 50-50 challenge by the touchline. Tomkins wins the ball but Felliani's studs appeared to go into Tomkins' shin. No foul or card was given by referee Mark Clattenburg with Tomkins exiting the challenge unscathed.

GALLAGHER'S VIEW: Should have been a red card.

GALLAGHER SAYS: "Initially I didn't think it was a free-kick when I saw this and thought it was a throw-in. That's what Mark Clattenburg sees because he thinks Fellaini has kicked the ball out. From a different angle, you can see he's been very naughty. When you see Mark Clattenburg's view, Tomkins' body actually shields what happens. It's up to the FA to decide if they're going to follow it up. I would have given it as a red."

INCIDENT: Bastian Schweinsteiger of Manchester United appears to throw an elbow to the throat of West Ham's Winston Reid, but is not punished.

Bastian Schweinsteiger appeared to elbow Winston Reid in the throat

SCENARIO: As United prepared for a free-kick, Schweinsteiger appeared to catch Winston Reid with an elbow to the throat. The referee talked to both players but no cards were given.

GALLAGHER'S VIEW: Red card for Schweinsteiger... if Clattenburg saw the incident!

GALLAGHER SAYS: "I'm not convinced the referee's seen what we've seen. Chris Smalling may block him off. He's seen two players coming together and what he's done is decided to calm it down, take the heat out of it, because it was a free-kick. I'm not convinced he sees what we see from the camera angle. If you do that in the current climate you run a massive risk. If you take that risk and get caught you have to accept the punishment. If Mark Clattenburg had a really good view of that, he would send him off

El Scorchio 1:21 Mon Dec 7
Re: Martin Keown blasts Reid's reaction to elbow
He certainly went down easily, but everyone fucking does it, and that would usually end up in a sending off, as according to the rules you can't raise your hands like that.

Obviously we all know the rules are different if you play for Man U though.

Re: Martin Keown blasts Reid's reaction to elbow
I don't give a fuck, too late to benefit us now so why does any one want them suspended to aid another shit cunt premier team. Couldn't give a fuck. Let's hope the next ref actually see what Shawcross gets up to, now theres a cunt that deserves a red most games he plays

Re: Martin Keown blasts Reid's reaction to elbow
Urban dictionary? Oh, come on.

His family are probably originally from Schweinsteig... pig farmers. Steig in old German is simply " a stable."

I don't like the Mr Schweinsteiger, but you may as well call Ben "he's West Ham!" Shephard "Sheep Shagger" if you're that desperate.

Forget...

Lily Hammer 11:29 Mon Dec 7

...if you were talking about Reid, which is of course the main thread subject.

Yeah, Reid did go down a bit easily considering he obviously wasn't hurt. Elbow like that can be nasty, though, and as said, the way refs are so inconsistent, it's no surprise players make meals of such incidents.
